Diggin Dirt
Diggin Dirt
Reminiscent of James Brown, and Sly and the Family Stone, Diggin Dirt, is a band that is very well known around Humboldt County and the Pacific Northwest for uniquely blending together their influences that range from funk to blues to reggae to psychedelic-rock, to make something that is all together new and old sounding at the same time. Diggin Dirt are an 8 piece band with tight horns and an even tighter rhythm section and they never fail to keep the dance floor moving all night long. Excitement, top notch stage presence, and high quality original songs are sure to be delivered in more than adequate dosages with Diggin Dirt on stage. Whether you intend to or not, Diggin Dirt will have you moving from your head to your toes if you happen to find yourself in the same room as this extremely funky powerhouse of a band.

Mestizo Beat
Mestizo Beat is a collective of musicians based out of Los Angeles who compose and perform music influenced by the early 1970’s era of funk, soul, afro-beat, and afro-cuban genre. With songs and compositions that drives the audience into rhythm, groove, dance, and ecstasy. Formed by lead guitarist Aquiles “Lito” Magaña along with his brother Gus Magaña on drums. These two would come to share their passion and love for this era of music and become the driving core for the group. Influenced by the greats such as James Brown, Fred Wesley and the J.B.’s, Parliament Funkadelic, the Meters, and WAR.
Sake Of Sound
Sake Of Sound
Sake Of Sound began on July 17, 2018, at the Basement Tavern in Santa Monica, California. Longtime friends and collaborators Nathan Kersey-Wilson (keys) and Forrest Mitchell (drums) had linked up with Mason Sacks (guitar), and were playing trio gigs around Los Angeles. When Mason brought Orlando Thompson (bass) to sit in at this show, a magical balance was found and they realized that they had no choice but to form a band.
The four musicians come from a variety of musical upbringings, coming together joyously to create a sound that ranges from intensely groovy to calmly reflective, and is always soulful. While their music touches on many genres - funk, soul, house, hip hop - at its heart is the essence of jazz, creating collectively in the moment and letting spontaneous musical serendipity produce the magic. As you listen, you hear the creative process happening.
On October 22, 2018, having never rehearsed, but played together on a few gigs, the band went in to a 4-hour live recording and video session at Blue Dream Studios. The result of that session is their debut album, Blue Dream Elixir, which will be released as a series of 7 live videos from February - June 2019. The full album will be released Summer 2019 and will include two bonus tracks.
Influences include Herbie Hancock, Roy Ayers, The Bad Plus, John Scofield, Dave Weckl, Weather Report, Vulfpeck, Derek Trucks, etc.
