Mimicking the moves of Michael Jackson, singing the melodic tunes of Stevie Wonder, and yelling at the top of her lungs in hopes of hitting the impeccable register of Mariah Carey is what a young Lamayah would do. "I've been singing since I was four years old and it has always been a dream of mine. I have many talents, but singing has always been my dream and is my whole heart!" she say's as she gropes her Yamaha guitar.

Born in Brooklyn, New York to a native New Yorker mother and a father from Georgetown, Guyana, Lamayah say's music is in her genes. "My dad is a very talented and accomplished singer and musician. He used to be so big in Guyana. He played in this band where he sang and played Sax. But he also plays the guitar, piano, and flute. He passed it on to me I guess. I am so thankful." She plays the guitar, Flute, Violin, Harmonica, and a little piano. Though she has never been formally trained vocally or musically, she still possesses the skill and magic of one who is.

"Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, and Mariah Carey are my biggest inspirations and I just want to inspire others like they have inspired me. I just want to put hope and love in the hearts of everyone who hears my music, my words, and my voice. That's all. Soul..soul is where it all comes from. That's what I look for.. that's what I go to..truth."

She has the ability and potential to be the next big thing. Her drive and motivation is so strong and she shows no signs of slowing down. This is truly what she wants. "I feel this is my purpose in life. Music. Singing. It's what makes me feel alive. This is my calling, my dream, my fate. I'm here for you."

Patryce “Choc’Let” Banks is the original co-founding member of the celebrated, Grammy nominated group Graham Central Station. In the 70s, she was involved in the birth of the American music phenomenon of “Funk”. Patryce played
percussion on the “Funk Box” and shared the spotlight as lead singer alongside Larry Graham. Graham was also her lover and mentor.
In discussing the genesis of GCS, Choc’Let voices, “Originally Larry was producing my band, Hot Chocolate. I was the featured lead vocalist. During this time, he was still with Sly. When Larry left Sly and the Family Stone, he joined
Hot Chocolate. With his addition to the group, he brought a transformation; Hot Chocolate became Graham Central Station”.
After her departure from Graham Central Station, she went solo. Choc’Let has lent her voice on tour and recordings with B.B. King, Chaka Khan, Wayne Henderson and the Crusaders, Stephanie Mills, Ronnie Laws and celebrated rap icon,
Dr. Dre, to name a few. As lead vocalist, Patryce joined Rose Royce of “Car Wash” fame, performing worldwide.
She continues to work in the studio, entertain, lecture, and, having authored three books, is showing signs of becoming a nascent novelist!
Choc'Let is currently gearing up to take her show back out on the road. "The funk is demanding to be released!" she declares. "Graham Central Station never
reached the universe, we stopped short at the stars. It's obvious to me that there is a void in today's music that only funk can fulfill. I am calling into service some of the "Souljahs" who cut their teeth on funk and we will continue the legacy. Look for us, we will be rolling through your city soon…stay tuned and may the funk be
with you!"
