Live Music Los Angeles

  The Mint, first opened in 1937, has been a mainstay among live music venues in Los Angeles. Over the years it has become a home away from home for musicians and music lovers alike. In 2007, the Mint is celebrating its 70th year as a live music venue. In the clubs’ early years it became know for its great blues artists. Taj Mahal and his Phantom Blues Band recorded a grammy for best contemporary blues album, “Shoutin in Key”. Jimmy Witherspoon also received a grammy nomination when he recorded an album with Robben Ford here called, “Live at the Mint” . While the Mint carved out a nice reputation for its live music in Los Angeles with the Blues, in the mid 90's it began to expand its musical direction and many musical talents began their careers here. Ben Harper, Macy Gray, The Wallflowers, Jeff Buckley and Pete Yorn to name a few who spent their early years honing their craft at the Mint.

  These artists, among others, have cemented The Mints’ reputation as a live music venue in Los Angeles and we hope to continue this for years to come. Our stated goal is that music lovers can come here on any given night and expect to hear music that meets a high standard. While not as big as some other live music clubs in Los Angeles and not located on the strip in Hollywood, The Mint still manages to hold its own. Come early and eat dinner. The kitchen puts out a tapas style menu, has had some nice reviews and is usually open late. Full bar, wine list and tap beers. Valet available.
