The Kevin O'Day Band

Kevin O’Day (who has shared the stage with Stevie Wonder and Ivan Neville) brings Vieux Carre Mondays to The Mint EVERY MONDAY (FREE!). The New Orleans Music Scene hit Los Angeles in a major way when the Kevin O’Day Band took the stage at The Mint beginning October 5th, 2009. Kevin ODay is regarded by his peers as a drummer’s drummer with a passion that never wanes and a sympathetic ear that defines the soul of New Orleans Music. He has been one of the leading lights on the New Orleans music scene for over a decade. He has played with Stevie Wonder, Ivan Neville, Anders Osborne, Walter “Wolfman” Washington, and The Dirty Dozen Brass Band.

Joining the Kevin ODay Band will be fellow Louisiana native, DJ QUICKIE MART (recently toured with The Knux) who will be spinning vintage cuts. Expect guest artists from NOLA and the LA area to sit-in on a regular basis. In addition to the indigenous sounds, Vieux Carre Mondays will feature NOLA cuisine, cocktails, and artwork (how bout dat lagniappe).

ODays deft touch on the drums is augmented by his deep knowledge of music of every variety. He is as comfortable on the stage at The Mint as he is in gritty juke joints or The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. He gives his heart and soul to the music in every performance. He has soaked up his influences and experiences and distilled them down into an expressive personal style that is instantly recognizable and undeniably original. He is poised for a breakout. Get ready, Los Angeles, Kevin ODay is here.
