Old Californio

Old Californio blend a gritty soup of bucolic rock and roll influenced as much by bands such as the Grateful Dead, The Who, and Crazy Horse as the ungovernable San Gabriel Mountains themselves. Songwriter Rich Dembowski’s lyrics evoke winsome images of riparian vistas and wine stained front porches, of places forgotten and out of the way. With the addition of new guitarist Woody Aplanalp in 2009 (of Banyan, Bobby Womack, Lili Hadyn) the bands line-up has solidified into a familiar yet complex mix of American roots rock and post psychedelic experimentalism with bright vocal harmony / guitar driven melodies and earthy arrangements.
