Greenhorse is an emerging post-pop duo featuring Chris Hackman and Shawn Day, who first met backstage at a high school talent show in Sheridan, Wyoming. Following an online collaboration in 2009, while Day was living in London and Hackman was in Los Angeles, they formed Greenhorse. The band self-released their debut EP “Transcontinental” in the fall of 2009 and are currently writing their second EP, slated for recording this fall at Pachyderm Studios in Cannon Falls, MN with Brent Sigmeth (Nirvana, Wilco, Polyphonic Spree).
In London, Shawn was the co-writer/bassist in Red Light Company who released the single “Arts and Crafts” which reached #13 on the UK charts. RLC performed with The Killers, Editors, Keane, and The Virgins. Meanwhile, Chris earned his Master’s degree in Upright Bass from the University of Southern California. He performed at jazz clubs across SoCal, and worked as a professional copyist on major motion pictures such as Benjamin Button and The Princess and the Frog.
Greenhorse is known for their high-energy dance parties; they have used live projection, panoramic three-dimensional sound experiments, and thousands of christmas lights to create highly unique and evocative performance experiences for audiences across the west. Described as scintillating, modern, sincere, and minty fresh, Greenhorse leave a lasting impression and continue to generate a fanatic following wherever they go.
